How to get git commit history with a nice formatting

You can use a “Git Log” command, but the default view for that command is not very nicely formatted.

So here is a little better way.You can use a “git log’ command with a –pretty flag that takes a host of specifiers (see below). You can chose what data to show and how. You can even add your custom text.

Here are the specifiers you can add to the pretty format.
